Construído numa importante esquina estratégica da avenida Afonso Pena, uma das principais vias urbanas de Belo Horizonte, o Edifício Castelo 2770 abriga em 5000m2 de área funcional, salas comerciais, lojas e a sede da Construtora do mesmo nome. A solução arquitetônica adotada , embora respeitando as expectativas de sobriedade da empresa empreendedora, introduz, com a leve curvatura da sua volumetria dominante, um diálogo instigante e alternativo com o terreno triangular e com a esquina. Estabelece ainda, dois tipos de interfaces com a estrutura ambiental urbana interagente, adaptando-se a vista das montanhas e à trajetória solar favorável (segmentos das fachadas leste e sul em cortina de vidro laminado em duas tonalidades) e incluindo aberturas controladas nas massas nas demais fachadas. A solução das calçadas em dois níveis inovou e permitiu a flexibilização dos parâmetros da legislação vigente, fundamentada na melhoria do fluxo de pedestres, tendo em vista a constatação de uma agressiva lombada na esquina causada por erro de concordância nos greides da avenida e da rua. O sistema estrutural e construtivo é convencional, com lajes e pilares em concreto armado e sem nenhuma especificidade.

Built on a strategic corner of Afonso Pena Avenue (one of the main urban routes in Belo Horizonte). The Castelo 2770 building holds, in a 5000m2 gross area: commercial offices, shops and the Castelo company headquarters. In spite of respecting the company's expectations for a rational architecture, my proposal plays with a slightly curved volumetric shape, an inciting dialogue with the triangular plot and with the corner itself. It also fixes two kinds of interfaces with the urban surroundings, adapting itself to the view of the mountains and to the solar heating trajectory (SE façade segments in coated glass panels and controlled openings on the NW mass façades). The solution for a sidewalk in two levels innovated and found flexibility on the current urban legislation. The proposed alternative optimises the flow of pedestrians, once verified an aggressive hump on that specific corner, caused by lack of accordance of the avenue with the street grades. The structural system is solved with conventional reinforced concrete slabs and pillars.
