Terminal de Ônibus E CENTRO CULTURAL DO MEIER / RJ

Esse novo edifício adapta-se, numa escala adequada, às características da vizinhança do tradicional Bairro do Meier no Rio de Janeiro. A articulação dos fluxos gerados por esse misto de terminal de ônibus e centro comercial/cultural, com a estação ferroviária adjacente e toda a estrutura ambiental urbana pré-existente, foi o principal fato gerador dessa proposta. Os conflitos entre os fluxos ferroviário e de ônibus, veículos particulares, de pedestres e usuários dos equipamentos culturais agregados (cinemas, teatro, lojas e serviços de conveniência) foram minimizados. A lógica da sobreposição dos diferentes sistemas estruturais e construtivos propostos e o manejo dos percursos internos e externos enquanto determinantes para a percepção das hierarquias dos espaços interiorizados, são outros componentes dos fundamentos conceituais desse trabalho. Além disso, comprovamos a possibilidade de atender `a demanda funcional definida no programa fornecido, com uma área construida total de 25000m2, muito inferior `a estimada inicialmente pelo edital em 42000m2 (incluido o setor comercial/cultural e o estacionamento coberto). O júri ressaltou a correta interpretação da escala urbana local e o respeito às características do lugar geográfico, além da adequada articulação com a estrutura espacial do bairro.

This new building adapts itself, in a suitable scale, to the characteristics of the traditional Méier neighborhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The connection of the traffic and pedestrian flows, conceived by this mixture of bus terminal and commercial/cultural centers, with the adjacent train station and the whole pre-existing urban structure, was the main generating factor for this proposal. The struggle among bus and train flows, private vehicles, pedestrians and users of the existing cultural facilities (cinemas, theatre, shops and convenience stores) were minimized. The overlapping of different structural and building systems and my target to deal with the internal and external trajectories as determiners for the perception of hierarchies of inner-spaces, are other components held in the conceptual essence of this project. Besides that, I proved it is possible to attend the functional demand defined in the program provided, with a total built-up area of 25,000m,(including the commercial/cultural area and the enclosed parking area), much smaller than the one initially estimated by the official report of 42,000m . The jury committee stood out the correct interpretation, in terms of local urban scale and the respect for the characteristics of the geomorphology of the site, and also the adequate articulation with the neighborhoodurban structure.
